Rail Noise Abatement

Durisol noise walls and Durisol Acoustic Facings are increasingly in demand to deal with residential noise levels associated with increased urban densities as well as the shift toward higher-speed passenger and commuter trains.

Concerns about noise relate both to the noise emanating directly from the under carriage area of the trains, as well as problems of reflective noise from both trains and railway structures.  Durisol has also designed a number of rail noise abatement measures as a result of its extensive involvement in the more highly developed rail systems in Europe and Asia.

Durisol Rail Silencers are pre-cast Durisol elements that are placed between and along the side of rails to abate wheel and under carriage noise. The elements are removable for ballast adjustments and rail servicing.  In some cases noise reduction achieved by rail silencers can eliminate the need for noise walls.  Typical applications include rail stations, tunnel entrances, subway stations and shunting yards.

Acoustic shields block noise paths to medium and high rise buildings.
